More Member States Threaten Action Over CO2 Caps

Law360, New York (August 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eight of the European Union's 27 member states have voiced opposition to the new carbon dioxide emissions caps, after Malta joined the group of dissenting countries in threatening the European Commission with legal action.

Malta has joined Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia in their fight against the Commission's emissions caps. The government of Malta has asked the Commission's to allow the member state to emit 2.9 million tons of greenhouse gas each year from 2008 to 2012.
