FERC Deals Alaska Pipeline Owners Setback On Rate Hikes

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 2:17 PM ET) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Tuesday denied a request by the owners of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline to exclude a unfavorable tax assessment of the 800-mile pipeline from being introduced in agency hearings over a rate hike.

The five owners — BP PLC, ConocoPhillips Co., Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and Koch Industries Inc. — had sought to keep the agency from considering an Alaska tax valuation that included a shorter expected lifespan for the pipeline, which would likely hurt their chances of landing regulatory approval...
