NY Hospitals Pay $2.3M Over Medicaid Drug Overbilling

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 5:28 PM EDT) -- Sound Shore Health System will pay about $2.3 million to settle allegations that its two New York suburban hospitals fraudulently overbilled Medicaid for physician-administered drugs, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Wednesday.

Sound Shore Medical Center will pay over $2.2 million, while Mount Vernon Hospital has already paid over $85,000, Schneiderman said. The hospitals reaped over $1 million in profit due to the overbilling and agreed to repay the state double what it fraudulently billed plus interest, according to Schneiderman.
