Audi's $1B Ducati Buy Revs Up VW Motorcycle Portfolio

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 7:41 PM EDT) -- The boards of German automaker Audi AG and parent Volkswagen AG have signed off on a deal to buy Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Holding SPA for a reported €860 million ($1.12 billion), the companies announced Wednesday.

The purchase expands Volkswagen's portfolio into the motorcycle sector with a company that claimed 11 percent market share and posted revenues of €480 million last year, according to parallel statements Audi and primary Ducati shareholder Investindustrial Group issued Wednesday.
