A typical means to “monetize” an otherwise intangible IP asset, such as a patent, is by way of licensing. In simplified form, this process typically is a bilateral negotiation between the patent owner, the licensor and the party wishing to use the patented technology, the potential licensee, during which the conditions and terms of use of the agreement are negotiated.
