NY Medicaid Audit Finds $42M In Improper Payments

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 6:26 PM EDT) -- New York state officials on Thursday signaled they're losing patience with Computer Sciences Corp., the company that processes Medicaid claims, after audits uncovered $42 million in improper payments.

The reports scrutinized CSC's automated processing system, known as eMedNY, which has cost the Empire State $900 million since debuting in 1998.

New York Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said the state wrongly paid $36 million for patients with dual enrollment in Medicare and Medicaid who were allowed to receive excessive managed care coverage. Another $6 million in overpayments...
