Judge OKs $321.6M Fine Against Merck For Vioxx Marketing

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 6:11 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal judge Thursday approved a $321.6 million criminal fine against Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. for illegally marketing the anti-inflammatory Vioxx for off-label uses, in a penalty that Merck agreed to along with a $628.4 million civil settlement resolving allegations over safety claims.
