Apotex Sues Pfizer, UCB, Others Over Blood Pressure Meds

Law360, New York (April 23, 2012, 2:00 PM EDT) -- Apotex Inc. sued Pfizer Inc., UCB Inc. and other rival generic-drug makers in Florida federal court Friday, alleging the competing pharmaceutical companies infringed Apotex’s patents covering forms of blood pressure drugs.

Canadian company Apotex also lodged suits against Paddock Laboratories Inc., Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc., Mylan Laboratories Inc. and their subsidiaries. It claims the defendants’ medications contained quinapril magnesium and moexipril magnesium, key ingredients found in Apotex’s two hypertension tablets.
