Fed Taps Academic Panel To Study Bank Stress Tests

Law360, New York (April 20, 2012, 4:15 PM EDT) -- The Federal Reserve said Friday that it would form a panel of academics to help it evaluate the models the central bank uses in its annual stress tests that measure banks' ability to withstand a financial downturn.

The announcement comes on the heels of both the release of the results of the latest stress tests, plus a Fed governor saying the central bank would take steps to modify how it conducts the tests because a "one-size-fits-all approach” isn't appropriate.
