Roche Dismisses Promega Lawsuit As Baseless

Law360, New York (November 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Swiss pharmaceutical group Roche on Friday dismissed a lawsuit filed by U.S. rival Promega as a groundless legal tactic in a decade-long patent dispute between the pair, Agence France Press reported.

On Thursday, Promega said it had sued Hoffman-La Roche for overcharging the US government for products used for research and healthcare. Promega alleged that the overcharges included royalty payments to use a research enzyme called Taq based on a Roche patent, the subject of a legal dispute between the two companies.
