Cyber Threats Escalating At Federal Agencies, GAO Says

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 9:06 PM EDT) -- An information security director at the U.S. Government Accountability Office told House representatives that federal agencies were struggling to address a skyrocketing number of cyber threats, while others at a Tuesday hearing underscored the need for comprehensive cybersecurity legislation.

The number of incidents reported by federal agencies to the federal information security incident center has increased by nearly 680 percent over the past six years, according to Gregory Wilshusen, the GAO's director of information security issues.
