Cellectis Faces Rival's 10th Genome Engineering IP Suit

Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 2:07 PM EDT) -- Precision BioSciences Inc. struck another blow Tuesday in its ongoing fight with rival Cellectis SA over genome engineering technology, filing in North Carolina federal court the 10th patent suit in which it has targeted Cellectis since September.

Precision's complaint, which targets Paris-based Cellectis and two subsidiaries, centered on meganucleases — “DNA scissors” that can recognize a specific binding site and break the DNA at or near that site. Precision said it was the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit, which issued Tuesday.
