ViroPharma Loses Bid To Block Generic Vancocin

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 7:30 PM EDT) -- ViroPharma Inc. lost a bid to temporarily block the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recent approval of generic versions of the antibiotic Vancocin after a Washington federal judge ruled Monday that doing so would deprive the public of low-cost alternatives to the drug.

U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle denied ViroPharma's injunction bid, saying ViroPharma had not shown how decreased drug sales would irreparably harm the company. The judge said an injunction would not be in the public's best interest and that the drugmaker had failed...
