Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 3:29 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Defense has moved beyond traditional acquisition procedures to meet urgent warfighter needs, but it still must reduce time spent on certain military contracts, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a report Tuesday.
The GAO issued the report on expediting joint capabilities to address combat needs in Iraq and Afghanistan, analyzing DOD data and issuing recommendations with which the DOD ultimately agreed, the GAO said.
