Apple's Siri, Others Rip Off Voice Command Patent, Suit Says

Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 6:53 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc.'s Siri voice recognition application infringes a voice command patent held by Potter Voice Technologies LLC, according to the licensing group, which sued Apple, Google Inc., Microsoft Corp. and others Wednesday in Colorado federal court.

Potter's suit accuses 15 separate mobile device makers of co-opting its voice control patent through sales of cellphones — including Apple's iPhone and co-defendant Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry — that offer infringing voice recognition software applications including Siri and Google Voice Actions.
