USTR Eyes Normal Russia Relations, Open Chinese Market

Law360, New York (April 26, 2012, 3:37 PM EDT) -- U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said Thursday that the Obama administration is working to roll back a law that bars normal trade relations with Russia and called on China to further open its market to outside investment.

In a speech at Singapore Management University, the nation's top trade official said the administration is working to terminate the Jackson-Vanik amendment so that U.S. businesses can compete on a level playing field in Russia once Russia joins the World Trade Organization.
