Commerce Says China Subsidized, Dumped Steel Tubes

Law360, New York (May 1, 2012, 5:53 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce made final rulings Tuesday that the Chinese government had unfairly subsidized its manufacturers of high-pressure steel cylinders, allowing exporters to sell the products at below-market prices in the U.S.

The decision now falls to the U.S. International Trade Commission as to whether the cheap imports — $81.7 million worth of them in 2011 up from just $29.1 million in 2009 — are hurting American companies. The ITC is scheduled to announce its decision June 11.
