Nokia Targets HTC, RIM, Viewsonic In Flurry Of IP Suits

Law360, New York (May 2, 2012, 1:41 PM EDT) -- Nokia Corp. on Wednesday fired off five suits claiming rivals HTC Corp., Research In Motion Ltd. and Viewsonic Corp. have infringed 45 mobile phone patents in courts in Delaware and Germany, and before the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Nokia Chief Legal Officer Louise Pentland said in a statement Wednesday that the patents-in-suit are not vital to the company’s competitors and that Nokia isn’t accustomed to licensing them.
