Dentist Group Says Texas Ad Rules Are Unconstitutional

Law360, New York (May 02, 2012, 7:56 PM ET) -- The American Academy of Implant Dentistry has sued the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in Texas federal court seeking to overturn advertising rules it says unconstitutionally restrict its members' ability to advertise their AAID credentials, it announced Wednesday.

The AAID, which certifies dentists with advanced training in installing oral implants for false teeth, said the dental board requires dentists advertising credentials in specialties not recognized by the American Dental Association to include lengthy disclaimers that it says patients won't understand.
