Ariz. Lawmakers Pass Bill To Restrict Punitive Damages

Law360, New York (May 3, 2012, 5:24 PM EDT) -- Arizona's legislature sent a bill to Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday that would disallow punitive damages unless a company misled, bribed or ignored regulators, a more stringent measure than recent initiatives from other states to limit the awards.

The state's House of Representatives passed the bill by a vote of 38-20 on the back of its Republican majority. The Senate has already approved the legislation.
