Hospital Co. Capella Snags Slice Of $3B Medicare Deal

Law360, New York (May 04, 2012, 7:44 PM ET) -- Tennessee-based Capella Healthcare Inc. on Friday became the latest hospital network to announce it’s getting a cut of a $3 billion settlement the federal government inked after admitting a staggering math error related to hospital reimbursements.

Capella, which runs 13 acute-care hospitals in seven states, said it had banked $13.6 million in connection with the settlement and an unrelated hospital program in Oklahoma. A breakdown of proceeds from each source wasn’t provided, and company officials didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment Friday.
