GOP Calls Obama's Offshore Drilling Plan Too Restrictive

Law360, New York (May 09, 2012, 2:34 PM ET) -- House Republicans on Wednesday slammed the Obama administration's five-year draft offshore drilling plan, claiming it needlessly restricts the country's energy potential by failing to open any new areas for drilling permits.

During a Natural Resources Committee hearing, GOP members grilled Tommy Beaudreau, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, over the plan's prohibition of drilling between now and 2017 in portions of the Arctic and the entire Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
