Law360, New York (May 15, 2012, 12:54 PM EDT) -- In May 2010, Steven VandeBrake entered a plea agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice in which he agreed to plead guilty to three counts of fixing prices in the ready-mix concrete industry. In exchange for being the first individual to publicly admit wrongdoing in the then-ongoing investigation, and for allowing the government avoid a trial, the government agreed that he should be sentenced to 19 months in prison and fined $100,000 — a sentence that was within, but near the low end of, the applicable range for antitrust offenses in the United States sentencing guidelines....
