NASA Scientists Sue Over Security Checks

Law360, New York (August 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of scientists working for NASA have filed a suit challenging new government rules regarding background checks, saying the requirements are unconstitutional and intrusive.

Twenty-eight senior scientists and engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California filed the suit against NASA, the Department of Commerce and the California Institute of Technology Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The suit seeks a preliminary injunction against the implementation of new background investigation requirements.
