Microsoft Settles Drawn-Out Patent Fight With Eolas

Law360, New York (August 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has reached a settlement with rival Eolas Technologies Inc., resolving a protracted patent dispute that last year resulted in a $521 million jury verdict against the software giant.

Microsoft spokesman Jack Evans confirmed the settlement in a written statement released Friday. The confidential terms were not disclosed.

“We're pleased to be able to reach an amicable resolution in this long-running dispute with Eolas and the University of California,” Evans said.
