Google-Backed Wind Power Line Clears Competition Review

Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 4:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior determined Monday that a massive Google Inc.-backed transmission project to connect planned East Coast wind farms to the electrical grid faced no land use competition, removing a regulatory hurdle for the developers.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management found that Atlantic Grid Holdings LLC faced no competitive interest for Outer Continental Shelf lands in the mid-Atlantic, where the company has proposed building a transmission line stretching from Virginia to New York.
