GOP Slams DOE Over 'Duplicative' Clean-Energy Bill

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 6:34 PM EDT) -- Senate Republicans on Thursday hammered federal officials over a Democrat-supported bill to create national clean-energy standards, saying the proposed standards could conflict with current Clean Air Act regulations and would increase costs for consumers.

Hearing testimony from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Energy Information Administration, Duke Energy Corp., the Jacksonville Electric Authority and the American Iron and Steel Institute, the committee examined the expected impact of the Clean Energy Standard Act of 2012.
