Iowa State Settles Soybean Dispute With Monsanto

Law360, New York (September 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Iowa State University Research Foundation has resolved its patent infringement suit against Monsanto Co. over technology covering soybeans that lower the amount of trans fats in foods.

ISU has offered Monsanto a commercial license to sell its soybean products containing low linolenic acid in exchange for a research license to use the St. Louis-based company’s Roundup RReady2Yield soybean.

The parties announced the deal on Tuesday, and the agreement settles ISU’s suit, brought in May in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa,...
