Launched on July 21, 2011, the CFPB is a Congress-created bureau that houses the sweeping authority to implement, administer and enforce consumer financial protection laws.[1] With the mission of better protecting consumers, Congress transferred authority to the CFPB from seven other federal agencies.[2]
