Judge Nixes Bid To Hasten “No-Match” Case

Law360, New York (September 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Days after putting the brakes on a government plan to boost fines for companies that knowingly hire illegal workers, a federal judge has rejected the government's bid to bump up the briefing schedule and hearing date on the AFL-CIO's motion for an injunction that would bar the Social Security Administration from notifying employers who receive so-called “no-match” letters that they may be subject to civil and criminal sanctions.
