Simpson Thacher Guides Eaton's $12B Cooper Acquisition

Law360, New York (May 21, 2012, 6:38 PM EDT) -- Eaton Corp. will acquire Irish electrical equipment supplier Cooper Industries PLC for approximately $11.8 billion, providing both companies wider geographic breadth in their respective industries, Eaton announced Monday.

The Cleveland-based power management giant said the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2012 pending the requisite approvals. The combined company will be called Eaton Global Corp. PLC and will based in Dublin, where Cooper is based now.
