DOD Contractors Under Fire In Counterfeit Parts Report

Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 7:59 PM EDT) -- Chinese counterfeit electronic components have found their way into critical weapons and aircraft, including the Air Force's largest cargo plane, according to a U.S. Senate report Monday that criticized defense contractors' efforts to fight counterfeiters.

The report, spearheaded by Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and John McCain, R-Ariz., found counterfeit electronics in the Air Force’s largest cargo plane, in assemblies intended for special operations helicopters, and in a Navy surveillance plane, among 1,800 investigated cases of bogus parts.
