Circuit on Tuesday upheld a lower court's approval of a $3.4 billion government settlement with Native American landowners over allegedly mismanaged natural and energy resources on tribal lands, ruling that the settlement fairly compensates all class members.

Plaintiff Elouise Cobell filed the class action in 1996, alleging the U.S. Department of the Interior grossly mismanaged a trust account Congress established in 1887 to hold the proceeds from government-arranged leases of Indian lands.
