Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 3:18 PM ET) -- Astellas Pharma US Inc. hit injectable pharmaceuticals giant Hospira Inc. with a patent infringement lawsuit in Delaware federal court Wednesday over the rival's bid to market a generic version of Astellas' cardiac imaging agent Adenoscan.
Astellas and subsidiary Item Development AB said Hospira had filed an Abbreviated New Drug Application for a generic version of adenosine, an injectable fluid that replicates the stress placed on the heart during strenuous activity to allow for cardiac stress testing in patients physically unable to exercise.
