House Panel OKs Bill Blocking Court Bans On GE Crops

Law360, New York (June 06, 2012, 5:08 PM ET) -- A U.S. House subcommittee approved an agriculture appropriations bill on Wednesday that would allow farmers to continue using a genetically engineered crop even if a court invalidates its approval over environmental concerns, a provision critics deride as an unconstitutional overreach.

The subcommittee for agriculture, rural development, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and related agencies passed the bill by voice vote, with no markups.
