Apple, Microsoft Import Bans May Hurt Competition, FTC Says

Law360, New York (June 6, 2012, 11:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said Wednesday that Google Inc.’s attempts to interfere with the importing of Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox and Apple Inc.’s iPhone over standard-essential patents could be damaging to competition.

The FTC said in a filing that companies should not be able to easily obtain orders blocking competitors from importing their products over the use of standard industry patents.
