Tech Giants Back FTC On Essential Patent Injunctions

Law360, New York (June 08, 2012, 5:05 PM ET) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. and other major technology companies on Wednesday joined the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's call to abolish injunctions based on standard-essential patents, saying that such injunctions would crush competition and innovation and drive up product prices.

The FTC told the U.S. International Trade Commission on Wednesday that it should not issue import bans on the Xbox and iPhone, which have been found to infringe standard-essential patents.
