DHS’ New Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards

Law360, New York (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") has taken the first step toward establishing a comprehensive regulatory program to ensure the security of facilities storing potentially dangerous chemicals.

This program will affect much more than the chemical industry. Many companies throughout American industry will be subject at least to the regulations’ information gathering requirements, and some companies, which own or operate facilities considered by the Government to be "high risk," will be subject to more burdensome security standards.
