Sanofi Legal Honcho Quits As Plavix Trial Nears

Law360, New York (May 30, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The head of French drug maker Sanofi-Aventis SA’s legal department has tendered his resignation on the eve of the company’s closely watched court battle against generic makers Apotex and Dr Reddy's Laboratories over their plans to make a generic version of blockbuster blood thinner Plavix.

Senior vice-president in charge of legal affairs Dirk Oldenburg, who is also General Counsel of the pharmaceuticals group, will resign from his post in order to pursue “other career opportunities,” Sanofi-Aventis said.
