Ex-Sullivan & Cromwell Partner Suspended For Tax Dodging

Law360, New York (June 19, 2012, 6:58 PM EDT) -- A former Sullivan & Cromwell LLP mergers and acquisitions partner who is currently in prison for failing to pay taxes on more than $10 million in income was suspended in New York state court Tuesday from practicing law in the state.

The New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division suspended John O'Brien after determining that his tax dodging was a serious crime. He will be required to go before a disciplinary committee after he is released from prison and could be disbarred, the court said.
