NJ Bill Would Ban Private Use Of Drones, Limit Police Use

Law360, New York (June 20, 2012, 6:37 PM ET) -- Law enforcement agencies conducting surveillance operations would have to obtain a warrant before using drones in New Jersey and the unmanned aerial vehicles would be off limits to private citizens under a bill announced Wednesday by Republican Assemblyman Bob Schroeder.

Schroeder, a member of the state Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee, plans to introduce the drone bill as public concerns for privacy and safety mount in the wake of new federal laws promoting widespread use of the vehicles on U.S. soil.
