Costco's LCD Cartel Suit Overreaches, Electronics Cos. Say

Law360, New York (June 25, 2012, 3:21 PM ET) -- Several companies accused of fixing prices of liquid crystal display screens told a California federal court on Friday that Costco Wholesale Corp. had no basis to bring claims based on its indirect purchases from electronics makers that aren't defendants or alleged co-conspirators.

The companies — HannStar Display Corp., AU Optronics Corp., Chimei Innolux Corp., Hitachi Ltd., LG Display Co. Ltd., Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. and Epson Imaging Devices Corp. — said in a partial summary judgment motion that Costco overreached by seeking damages for Sherman Act...
