Feds Cleared Of Witness Tampering In Hospital Bribery Case

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 1:27 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge refused Thursday to grant a new trial to contractors and employees of New York Presbyterian Hospital convicted of illegally rigging bids at the medical center, saying there's no evidence prosecutors tried to derail testimony that might have helped the defense.

The attempt to toss the convictions centered on an audio recording in which one defendant uttered seemingly incriminating statements that the defense said might be explained as innocuous by another man on the tape.
