Law360, New York (July 02, 2012, 10:17 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday issued a record civil penalty of nearly $3.7 million and 24 actions against Enbridge Inc. in response to a July 2010 oil spill that dumped more than 800,000 gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River.
The DOT's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration said an investigation had revealed multiple violations of its hazardous liquid pipeline safety regulations, issuing a notice of probable violation and proposed civil penalty to the company.
