Senators Back FERC In Turf War Over Amaranth

Law360, New York (September 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three U.S. senators who penned parts of a 2005 law authorizing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to govern energy markets have told the head of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission that the two bodies should cooperate in pursuing energy market manipulators such as Amaranth Advisors LLC.

Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Ron Wyden (Ore.) and Maria Cantwell (Wash.) sent a letter Friday to acting CFTC Chairman Walter Lukken imploring him to set his agency on a course of cooperation with its fellow regulatory body.
