Spectra Pipe Could Lower NY Gas Transport Costs, DOE Says

Law360, New York (July 5, 2012, 4:05 PM EDT) -- A $1.2 billion pipeline extension Spectra Energy Corp. is building to bring natural gas from New Jersey to Manhattan could drive down New York City's natural gas transportation costs, the U.S. Department of Energy said Thursday.

The finding, published by the DOE's Energy Information Administration, lends official support to claims Spectra has made throughout the approval process that the project could bring hundreds of millions of dollars in energy savings and protect consumers from price volatility.
