US Seizes 70 Websites Suspected Of Selling Counterfeits

Law360, New York (July 12, 2012, 5:36 PM EDT) -- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Thursday seized 70 websites that were allegedly illegally selling counterfeit merchandise including baby carriers, DVD sets, clothing, jewelry and luxury goods by closely mimicking legitimate websites selling authentic merchandise.

Many of the seized websites looked so much like legitimate websites that it would be difficult for even sophisticated consumers to tell the difference, helping the operators to trick people into unknowingly buying counterfeit goods, ICE said.
