USPTO To Adopt AIA's New 3rd-Party Submission Rule

Law360, New York (July 16, 2012, 8:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said Monday that it is revising its patent rules to put in place the third-party “preissuance submission” provision of the America Invents Act.

The provision allows third parties to weigh in on the quality of issued patents by offering submissions to be considered and possibly included into the record of a patent application, the USPTO says.
