UPenn Targets Hospital Over Stalled Immunotherapy Dealings

Law360, New York (July 20, 2012, 3:33 PM EDT) -- The University of Pennsylvania sued St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Pennsylvania federal court Thursday, alleging the hospital is interfering with its efforts to negotiate a strategic agreement to develop and patent a “groundbreaking” immunotherapy treatment for cancer.

While the university and the hospital had collaborated on immunotherapy efforts in the past, the Tennessee hospital sued Penn earlier in July, contending that the university breached two agreements governing their collaboration.
