EU Antitrust Unit Eyes UPS's $6.8B TNT Buy

Law360, New York (July 20, 2012, 6:03 PM EDT) -- The European Union’s antitrust watchdog said Friday that it is opening up an in-depth investigation into the proposed $6.8 billion acquisition of Dutch package delivery company TNT Express NV by American package giant United Parcel Service Inc.

The European Commission said an initial probe revealed possible competition concerns in the market for small parcel delivery services, especially international express services, in EU nations where the companies would enjoy a high combined market share.
